Maybelline Colorshow Glittermania -Red Carpet

Hey everyone,

Maybelline launched its Colorshow Glittermania last month and all the social networking sites and beauty blogs went crazy. I must give it to Maybelline -their promotional team is one of the best-superb , very persuasive and leaves no stones (sites, media) unturned. Since I was very impressed by their earlier Colorshow collection, I had to try their Glittermania range. Glittermania range has been launched in 8 pretty shades covering almost all the genre of colour spectrum.

I initially bought two shades

Red carpet (I am crazy about reds. They are my first love)
Pink champagne (It is the most talked about shade in this range)

Today I am going to review Red Carpet from Colorshow Glittermania range

What does Maybelline says about their new Glittermania range:

Let your nails dazzle and shine with MNY Color Show Glittermania nail color range.
Priding itself as India's first ever textured nail paint, the Color Show Glitter Mania range is every nail art lover's dream! When applied, these sparkling nail colors deliver a 3 D shimmering effect , adding oodles of styles to your tips. They also have a unique sand-textured effect that looks and feels great on your nails. With 8 glittering nail color shades to choose from, you are sure to find the perfect shade for every mood.

Here's why you will love it :
  • Features the Color dry technology for a stylish, sand textured effect.
  • When applied on nails, it delivers a 3D shimmering effect.
  • Perfect for experimental, trendy nail art
  • Easy to apply and dries quickly
  • Come in 8 trendy, glittering shades.

My take on the product

Maybelline Colorshow collection was super duper hit mainly because of its good texture, super drying speed, awesome color range and most particularly very much affordable price. Now Maybelline has launched further variant in its Colorshow range i.e. their very much promoted Glittermania range. The range has been promoted and publicized with grandeur. Maybelline's promotional terms ensures that their all the new launches should take the market by storm and they do always succeed in it.

Well, I will be talking about the Red Carpet from this range. The nailpaint comes in a medium size transparent cylindrical bottle with a black cap-packaging much similar to their earlier Colorshow range. The applicator-brush is of a good dense quality and gives a good swipe over the nails.

About the red carpet color shade, its a intense red color studded with gold shimmer which are very much visible in a bottle. However these gold shimmers on application do not translate to the nails and what you get is the red shade studded with red shimmer particles. The nailpaint as it claims has a sand grain texture with a matte shimmer. It can be easily used in your day to day wear collection. And with the top coat applied, it can very well be flaunted in the parties.

I really like the texture of the nailpaint and the color it imparts is just beautiful. With one swatch its gives you a shimmery red colour with pink undertone which turns into a deeper red in the second swatch. The sand grain texture is of a real good quality much inline with its counterparts such as Sally Hansen and ColorBar and has a matte finish. However I feel that shimmer is too mattified and a little gloss would have made the nailpaints much more lovelier. But then as I said I really loved the colour and when first applied I just couldn't resist looking at my nails over and again. They were looking so prim and elegant and freshly manicured. These nailpaints just like their earlier Colorshow range are super quick to dry. I have not yet came across any other branded nailpaint which dries as quickly as Colorshow beauties. And with the Glitter range you always have the added advantage of minor imperfections being not easily visible to the naked eyes.

About the chipping part, I was under the impression that glitter nailpaints chip slower then the regular ones. But then I saw some minor tip breakage after 3 days of application and proper chipping stared after 4-5 days. However u may keep your nailpaint intact for longer duration by applying a top coat over it .

These nailpaints are available for Rs. 125/- each. Trust Maybelline to always come out with such fantastic range in such affordable prices. I adore Maybelline for this. They are the cheapest in the  range with such fine texture.

Overall, I am a true fan of this Maybelline Glittermania range and loved everything about it. Just wish that these nailpaints would have been a little glossier. However with  this texture and this price, they are truly a to be owned material.

My rating for it : 4.5/5

I will soon be sharing my review on Pink Champagne from this range. And I have been told that their Dazzling Diva ( silver shade) and All that Glitters (golden one) are selling like hotcakes. So I cannot wait to lay my hands on them.

So have you guys tried this new Maybelline Colorshow Glittermania range ? Which one is your favourite form this range ? Would love to hear all about it.

Till then,

Chow

Lakme Absolute Bi-phased Makeup Remover

Hey everyone,

Today I am going to review the makeup remover I am currently using -Lakme Bi-Phased Makeup remover.

What do we need the makeup remover

Well most of us instead of using a makeup remover believes in getting rid of the makeup by washing it with face wash. Well, my dear girls face wash do not remove the makeup entirely from the face and sleeping with even a little amount of makeup on your face can clog the pores and make your skin irritable. Therefore it is very necessary to first remove the entire the makeup with makeup remover and then follow your CTM regime.

Well I was searching for a good makeup remover , when I came across Lakme Absolute Biphased makeup remover.  At that time 60 ml was available for Rs. 201/- which is quite reasonable and affordable. Now Lakme has slightly increase the price to Rs. 225 for 60 ml.

What does Lakme say about the product

One product, two functions- Lakme Absolute Bi-phased makeup remover is the unique formulation where the oil phase lifts off makeup while the water phase refreshes and conditions skin without leaving any stickiness. It effortlessly removes all traces of makeup from the face , leaving the skin feeling fresh and hydrated.

My take on the product

Lakme Absolute Bi-phased makeup remover is my second tested makeup remover and I am using it for months. It comes in a transparent blue coloured plastic bottle with a pump dispenser and a tight cap. Packaging is sturdy and travel friendly. The transparent bottle makes it easy to figure out the quantity of product left in the bottle . Since it's a Bi-phased remover, one can easily see the demarcation of oil and water in the bottle. Pump dispenser is very good and helps in controlling the usage of product. The remover has a moisturizing fragnance.

I spray the liquid on the cotton swab and then use the swab to remove the makeup . However it may also be used by directly spraying it on the face and then cleaning with the cotton. About its functioning  part, it effectively removes the makeup foundation, concealer, blush and all other face makeup products . It's even effective in removing the entire lip and eye makeup except the eye liner  This is the the area where it falters. It do fades the liner but after lots of swipes and a little extra effort. Somehow till now I have not been able to find a makeup remover which completely removes the eye liner with little effort and less swipes.

I require two cotton swabs (both sides) to remove my entire makeup.

Though the Bi-phased formulation consist of both oil and water , it doesn't leave any trace of greasiness on the face and the spray on the skin is more in the water form. However as a practice I always wash my face with a face wash after using the makeup remover so as to remove any last traces of makeup or dirt on my face.

Overall I love this product. Except my eye liner, it removes the  makeup very effectively , dosent sting, quantity last for a long long time and is the best one in the budget price range.

My rating for the product :4.5/5

So have you tried Lakme Absolute Bi phased makeup remover ? How was your experience with it ? Which makeup remover you are using at present ? Would love to hear all about it.

Till then,

Adios

Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist -Coral Rush

Hey everyone,

Today I am going to review one of the much promoted nailpaints  by Lakme in the range  of Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Paints. These gel stylist nailpaints were launched by Lakme last year in 8 shades with a price range of 400/-each.

The one I picked up is in the shade of Coral Rush.

                              Rs. 400/- for 3.6 g

Lakme describes

Super shiny and plumpy nails in one stroke.it delivers rich colour for high coverage for gel nails with a professional finish.

Key features:

Professional finish gel nails
Hi-shine
Hi coverage
Rich color
Recommended by Lakme makeup experts

My take on the nailpaint

Lakme absolute gel nailpaint  comes in a big bottle which reminds you of the O.P.I nailpaint packaging. I like it. Lakme claims it to provide a gel finish like texture with a superior gloss and shine for weeks. However I think the claims this time have been exaggerated. Though the shine and gloss of the nailpaint is a notch higher then the ordinary regular naipaints, I didn't find any resemble to actual gel like finish manicure.

Lakme has launched it in 8 shades and all the shades are really beautiful . The brush of the nailpaint is the most positive factor. It's a big brush which is very convenient to use and covers the nail area very well. Hence in a swipe u get a good coverage . 2 swipes gives the opaque shade and as a I said the shine and gloss is a notch higher , but then there is nothing super glossy about it. Other good nail paints when applied with a top coat may give a similar glossy finish. Rather after 3-4 days, shine fades and it look likes any other nailpaint. That is the point where their justification for such a high price fails.

The nailpaint takes as much time to dry as any other regular nailpaints (In this parameter , I love Maybelline Colorshow nailpaints -they dry super quick). You have to take care of your nailpaint  for atleast a hour or you may find the impression marks on it. However, another good thing about these naipaints are that on application they don't leave any bubble marks and the swipe is completely opaque without any rocky surface.

About the chip resistance, it behaves like a regular nailpaint and after 2 days there was a tip break on my index finger.

Overall Lakme Absolute Gel stylist though launch in beautiful colors are slightly better then regular nail paints and do not justify their claims of being super glossy and giving a gel like manicure. They are very   smooth to apply but then this was the only distinct factor I could notice about them . Moreover their price at Rs. 400/- each is the biggest deterrent factor when the other brands are everyday coming out with nailpaints innovations in the half price range. I don't think I am going to pick up any more in this variant.

My rating for it is :3/5

So have you tried any of the Lakme Absolute Gel  Stylist nailpaint? How was your Experience ? What are you wearing on your nails rite now? Would love to hear all about it.

My Haul from Nykaa Grand sale and other places

Hey everyone,

Recently Nykaa held its grand sale for 3 days which had some amazing discount offers on almost all the major brands. And we all will uniamaoulsy agree on a point that sale is the biggest temptation for us and just by listening the word, we are drawn to it like a magnet. So , I along with thousand of girlies placed my order for some skincare/makeup products . Apart from it I also bought some other stuff from other places.

Here is a sneak peak into the products I have recently added to my collection:

The products I bought were :
  • Lakme Youth Infinity Skin Firming Night Creme
  • Schwarzkopf Essensity Intense Repair Hair Mask
  • Lakme 9 to 5 Eye Quartet in Desert Rose
  • Loreal Paris Shine Caresse Lip Gloss -Shade Bella

  • Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel in Bubble
  • Maybelline Colorshow Glittermania in Red Carpet
  • Maybelline Colorshow Glittermania in Pink Champagne
  • Maybelline Colorshow Crayon Khol in Beige
  • Maybelline Volum' Express Falsies Mascara

I thinks that's all. Phew. As you see I have bought a mix of skincare and makeup products (actually it's 2 skincare and rest all makeup products :D). Over the couple of month I have hoard tons of products ; however my review process is not in sync. Therefore this time I have made a promise to myself to first review all the products I own and then splurge on the new ones. Let's see till when I can keep up with this vow .

Do tell me out of these which product will you like me to review first .

ColorBar Cheek Illusion Blush -Pink Pinch

Hey girlies,

Today I am going to review ColorBar Cheek Illusion Blush in Pink Pinch.Colorbar cheek Illusion blushes comes in six variants namely

  • Pink Pinch
  • Corel Craving
  • Earthy Touch
  • Everything's Rosey
  • Rosey Peach
  • Bronzing Glaze

I will be reviewing Pink pinch (Rs. 650 for 4g)

The blush comes in a transparent packaging which is simple but elegant. The case is quite sturdy and travel friendly . The blush has a pastel pink colour which looks much darker in appearance but pale on the Indian skin tone. The colour comes out very well on the cheekbones and gives a healthy glow to the skin. It will suit Indian skin tone very well and will look good on all the complexions.

The texture of the blush  is soft and blends easily in the skin. However, the pigmentation is sheer and it takes two swipes for the colour to show on the cheeks hones. However in my opinion it's good thing since with sheer pigmentation there is a less chance of going overboard . Plus once can easily  layer it depending on the one's preference. Once applied it gives a matte finish.

The stay power extends to 4-5 hours after which it fades gradually.

Overall it's a pretty pale pink colour blush which blends easily in the skin and gives a beautiful glow to the skin. It's going to suit well fair, medium and dusky complexions. It's sheer pigmentation is its best part which helps you in building the colour of the blush on your face. Hence it will be a very useful product for the beginners. Price wise, it cannot be compared to Maybeline blushes but is quite in line with blushes of other major brands. Quantity wise its going to last for a long while
I highly recommend this blush.

My rating :5/5

Have you guys tried the ColorBar Cheek Illusion blushes ? Which is your favourite blush ?

Review of Lakme CC Cream

Hello  everyone,

Today I am going to review pioneer of CC creams in India -Lakme CC (Complexion Care Cream).  Though CC generally stands for Colour Corrector and is an improvised version of BB creams, Lakme has defined its CC cream as Complexion Care cream and does not mention anything about the colour correction part.

                                                                     30 ml for Rs. 250/-

What does Lakme say about the product

Lakme CC stands for Complexion Care cream. It combines the goodness of your daily skin cream with just the right touch of makeup to give you that perfect look in just a few minutes.

It's skin care benefit includes sun protection (SPF 20), moisturizing, brightening and freshness while it makeup benefits are even skin tone and basic coverage.

My take on the product

Lakme CC cream launched as a first CC cream in India took the market by storm . It's may be because its one of a kind-a midway between an heavy foundation and light skin cream . Plus it is very reasonably priced. The cream provides an ideal makeup coverage for everyday wear . It comes in a sleek golden colour tube with CC cream written on it in fuschia and a silver screw cap on the top. In my opinion packaging is very chic, sturdy and travel friendly. The smell is consistent with the characteristic fragrance of Lakme products ( I love that characteristic fragrance).

The texture of this cream is lovely-neither runny nor too thick. It's consistency is more of like a  foundation . It is absorbed well in the skin and is easy to blend. However for my oily combination skin , I need to hydrate my skin before applying the CC cream otherwise it leaves dry patches on my face. It takes some time to blend in the skin around 5-10 mins. Once blended, it gives a soft natural glow to the skin and evens out the skin tone. It feels very light on the skin and provides the much wanted no makeup look. It can be layered on the areas which require more coverage, however because of its light texture, it's not going to cake up the skin. It leaves the skin shine free and does not feel greasy at all. However do remember, that unlike foundation it's not going to brighten or illuminate the dull skin. It just even out the skin tone and gives an overall natural subtle look.

The staying power is fairly good for 4-5 hours after which it fades out evenly without leaving any blotchy traces. I have personally not experience any oil on my face after applying the CC cream.

However the only disappointing factor is the limited shades available in Lakme CC cream. Their are only two shades available - Bronze for the medium /dusky complexion (which I am currently using ) and Beige for fair complexion. Bronze variant personally makes my skin a little darker (I am NC 42 shade). And I have not tried Beige yet, however I feel it is more suitable for fair complexion. I strongly feel that Lakme should have come out with more shade options and with a more suitable shade for medium to fair complexion. I would recommend to try both the shades over the counter before buying one for yourself.

Price wise it is very reasonable and the 30 ml quantity should last you more then a month on a everyday use basis as very small amount of product is required for application. Regarding sun protection , though the description claims the cream to be enriched with SPF 20, I don't think I am going to test that. Plus regarding makeup products , I always have my doubt on skin benefits and sun protection qualities. Better to stick to your old sunscreen which can be very well wore benath the CC cream.

Overall its a lovely product and a very good option when you need to sport a no makeup look. Plus for the ones who are not much into makeup products, CC cream can be very well used for even out the skin tone and provide a good coverage. However, dry skinned beauties need to well moisturize their skin before its application. Also I would again repeat to test both the shades available and then chose the one ,more appropriate for your skin tone.

My rating for the product :4/5 (1 point less because of the limited shades collection)

Have you guys tried the Lakme CC Cream yet? Which is your favourite CC cream ?

I have recently got my hands on Bourjois CC cream. Let's see how it fairs for me.

Till then,
